A roaring crowd of fans welcomed Juanes and Juan Luis Guerra on stage for the first-ever Latino performance held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn this past Saturday. The benefit concert helped raise $150,000 for the American Cross in support of Hurricane Sandy victims in the tri-state area. Goya, the presenting sponsor, also donated free nonperishable products to over 25,000 New Yorkers.
During the concert, the Latin Grammy-winners shared the stage for a special duet of the Colombian singer’s hit, “It’s Time To Change.” Fans swayed their hips as a array of flags decorated the stadium while they sang hits including, Juanes' “Me Enamora” and Guerra's "Ojalá Que Llueva Café."
“We’ve both been blessed to have had extraordinary support throughout our careers from fans in the New York area and across the Caribbean. With so many people from these regions now facing immense hardships, we want to show our deep appreciation by utilizing our music to both raise spirits and more importantly, raise much-needed funds to help them through these times of great need,” said Juanes and Guerra in a press release.
