Melonie Diaz has been tapped to star as the lead in HBO's upcoming project Laughs Unlimited.
Laughs Unlimited is a drama about Middle East vets who suffer from PTSD. According to Deadline, the Fruitvale Station star will play a character named Billie Crown.
Laughs Unlimited centers on Billie Crown, who after 15 months as a combat medic in Afghanistan, realizes that "real life" is just as perilous as war.
Billie discovers that her duties as a Sacramento cop offers the same dangers and thrills as combat, and repairing the relationships with her husband and daughter is as difficult as saving a comrade after an attack.
HBO has not formally ordered a pilot as of yet, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, the network is continuing to develop a script and budget for its latest project.
