EXCLUSIVE: Judy Reyes Talks New Kids TV Show Project 'La Golda'

Mitch Jenkins

So, why did you choose to make La Golda a soccer player?

George is a rabid soccer fan. It's the biggest sport in the world, and it's huge with young girls. It's just always giving that power message to girls. That leadership message to girls. By using the biggest sport in the world, we're also spreading that message in a relatable way.

Is it important for Latina girls to have Latina role models on screen -- like La Golda?

What I think is important is for them to be a part of an empowering message, particularly involving female character. I think it's important to see themselves reflected in all forms. Yes, there's actors. Yes, there's world leaders. What I'm excited is taking on a part to produce a different kind of content.

Learn more about La Golda at Kickstarter, and stay tuned for updates about when you (and your kids!) can watch the show.
