EXCLUSIVE: Rafael Amaya & Fernanda Castillo Talk 'El Señor De Los Cielos'

El Señor de Los Cielos is making history.

Telemundo's acclaimed show was so popular among audiences that the station made an unprecedented move: it renewed a novela for a second (and third!) season.

El Señor de Los Cielos is based upon the life of infamous Mexican drug lord Amado Carrillo Fuentes, the head of the Juarez Cartel who died in a hospital after undergoing extensive plastic surgery to change his appearance. Mexican actor Rafael Amaya portrays Aurelio Casillas, a character based upon the cartel leader. At the end of the first season, Casillas -- like Fuentes -- dies on the operating table. But, before he goes, he stabs and kills his amor, Mónica Robles, played by Fernanda Castillo. But now, they're both back from the dead for a new season filled with suspense, action, intrigue, and romance.

We chatted with stars Rafael Amaya and Fernanda Castillo about season two, life after death, and the future of the telenovela:

Both of you "died" in season one of the show! How are they going to bring you back to life?

Fernanda: I can't tell you how, but I can tell you that we don't know if my character is coming back for revenge or because of her love for him.

Is there any scene in this upcoming season that you're just dying for audiences to see?

Fernanda: I would love for the audience to see my comeback..... from HELL! [Laughs]

Rafael: I literally stabbed her in the stomach! She wad dead!

Fernanda: I cannot tell more about it, but I think Mónica Robles' comeback is really amazing.
