The person out of the boat first is obviously the loser, and unfortunately or fortunately, it’s Clare. “I want him to be saying, trust me, it’s OK.” Sorry, Clare.
Before Juan Pablo speaks, Clare reveals her feelings. “We have something special, and I believe in you.”
Juan Pablo’s face says it all, and Clare probably knows what’s coming at this point. “This is the hardest decision ever. I gotta follow what I think is best for me. And I have to say goodbye,” he tells her. He reaches over for a hug, but she pushes him away.
“This entire time, I've stuck around, because I believed in you. The other night, on our last date, you came over and we spent our last hour together, I needed that reassurance, and I gave you the opportunity right then. And for you to sit there and tell me, that you see yourself in Sacramento, that you see yourself with me…
I believed in us. I've saved this moment for the man of my dreams, and I thought that was you, and I thought I knew what kind of man you were. You had every opportunity like those other girls did to tell me exactly how I felt. “
Juan Pablo cuts her off: “Do you know when I made my decision?”
But Clare keeps going: “I lost my respect for you. What you just made me go through….” She begins walking away before turning to release the ultimate burn. “I would never want my children having a father like you.”
Juan Pablo then stands there, saying to himself, “I’m glad I didn’t pick her,” like he is choosing a Slurpee flavor from 7-11.
Chris Harrison shows up and hugs Clare before guiding her back to the boat. “He's truly not the man I thought he was. I really, really had faith in him. It's easy to just kiss and not show your feelings. Don't tell me you could see yourself in Sacramento. Don't say anything. Don't say anything.
It just hurts my heart. Where's the man that will fight for me?” IT’S OKAY CLARE, YOU GOT AWAY! REJOICE!
Then, it’s Nikki’s turn. Nikki pours her heart out to Juan Pablo, saying: “You're such an amazing person. I want to be part of that. And I want you to be a part of my life. I've never felt like this before and I didn't expect to feel this way and I'm really glad that I do.
I can't imagine spending my life without you. I don't want it to stop and I don't think it will. I love you.”
To which Juan Pablo replies with a bunch of things he likes about her before telling her that he’s not going to propose but that he likes her “a lot” which is exactly what every girl wants to hear after telling a man that she thinks he’s the one.
But, for some reason, she accepts the rose.
