We caught up with Thalia, who just released a new memoir, Growing Stronger, and she dished on everything from how it feels to have her second baby to how she managed to handle the death of her mother—and as it turns out, writing this book was a big part of her recovery.
Growing Stronger touches on a lot of personal aspects in your life like losing your mother and welcoming your second child. What inspired you to write this memoir?

Since the death of her mother last month, Thalia has shared intimate details of her life via Twitter through personal photos and Tweets about her grief and happiness. The Mexican singer/actress’ most recent outpouring was about the death of her mother, Yolanda Miranda, and birth of her son, Matthew Alejandro Mottola.

The official cause of death for Thalia’s mother, Yolanda Miranda was determined to be heart disease. The 76-year-old suffered a fatal heart attack in the early hours of May 27 after complaining of a debilitating headache the night before.
Unfortunately, the singer’s mom—like many women—did not recognize the warning signs of a heart attack, which can also include chest pain, arm pain, shortness of breath, nausea and heartburn.

Cuban power couple Emilio and Gloria Estefan are in New York City today to pay tribute to their good friend and Thalia’s mother, Yolanda Miranda Mange, who passed away unexpectedly in Mexico on Friday of what is believed to be a heart attack. Earlier today, Doña Yolanda was laid to rest in a small, intimate funeral service in the presence of close friends and family.

When Thalia spoke to LATINA in August of 2005, she spoke at length about how her mother, who managed most of Thalia's career, was her biggest champion.
"My mother put the seed in me that I was worth something," said the Mexican star. "She told me, 'Don't ever let anyone step on you. It doesn't matter if you're sitting with the owner of a company or the president of a country.' "

Thalía’s mother, Yolanda Miranda, died this morning in Mexico of what is believed to be a heart attack.
“Half of my soul has died today…I feel as if I’m dying slowly…thank you for your prayers for my warrior, for my mother,” the Mexican singer Tweeted.
