We all get a chance to start over with the new year, and for many of us, this means making a pledge to take better care of ourselves. Almost everyone makes some sort of New Year’s resolution to lose weight or eat healthier, but by the time February rolls around, most of us will have given up on our well-intentioned goals.

This health challenge has opened my eyes up to what I can accomplish when I put my mind to something. It has also made it clear what my weaknesses are (mainly wine and chocolate, in that order). But the most important thing I've learned through this process is that health and fitness isn't just a 90 day project, it's a lifelong commitment—just like marriage.

Holy moly, I'm getting hitched! My boyfriend of almost a decade (yup, you read that right, 10 whole years) recently proposed. I may have been motivated before, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING compares to how serious I am about getting my butt into shape now!

So the last two weeks in NYC have been absolutely miserable and I hate to admit it, but I've totally fallen off with my workouts! Luckily, its supposed to be sunny this weekend and I'm going to use the respite to get my butt back into motion by taking a run in the park. Even though I've managed to keep the weight off without my regular workout routine for the last two weeks, I really miss the way that keeping my body active made me feel—especially the extra energy and the strength I had begun to build.

When it comes to getting a flat tummy, every girl feels pretty much the same: You work out and work out, but the little flab around your mid-section won't budge! So we went straight to the authorities to find out what can be done, once and for all, to get those elusive toned abs. Here's what nutritionist Christina Persaud and fitness expert Phoenix Carnevale had to say:
What are the best exercise moves and diets to follow if you want flat abs?

I’m not much of a cook, so sometimes I may slack when it comes to making complete meals. I usually only do that on the weekends, when I have time to relax (I hate to rush in the kitchen—if I cook, it’s more of a therapeutic thing). So, taking nutritionist Christina Persaud’s advice, I’m trying to stay in my range of 1,200 calories a day. So I found the perfect solution for an on-the-go girl like me: the Luna bar. My fave used to be the Lemon Zest flavor, but now I have a new one: the Dulce de Leche, of course!

I don’t know about you, but I get tired of running on a treadmill or doing the elliptical machine rather quickly. And I've already told you my sentiments on gyms, so it’s no surprise that whenever I can escape them and run outdoors, I do so.
