A step in the right direction? The student government of UCLA unanimously passed a decision to drop the term "illegal immigrant" last week, reports the Huffington Post. The decision comes after a "Drop the I-Word" campaign launched by the Applied Research Center and its publicaion ColorLines.

UCLA Program Aims to Bring More Latino Doctors to Medically Underserved Areas

Over 2,000 foreign-trained Latin American doctors living in Southern California are currently not practicing medicine, according to Dr. Patrick Dowling, chairman of UCLA's Department of Family Medicine.

MedCity News reports that UCLA has created a program to increase the number of Latin American physicians in medically underserved areas in California, and improve care for patients.

UCLA Shuts Down 'National Dream University'

The University of California is shutting down the plan for National Dream University, a college program for undocumented immigrants and labor rights activists that would offer online courses as a collaboration between the University of California, Los Angeles Center for Labor Research and Education and the National Labor College.
