The Hernandez family, which includes Puerto Rican mom Rosalita (played by Cuban actress Marlene Forte), became close friends of the Paynes as the season unfolded. The inclusion of this new Latin family was a huge success for the show, so much so that it sparked rumors of a Hernandez family spin-off.
