On Jan. 13, the Board of Education will hold a preliminary vote to determine whether or not they should adopt new standards for social studies texts in the state of Texas. In question is whether or not Cesar Chavez, along with all other Hispanics since the conquest of Mexico in the early 16th century, should be removed from textbooks.

When Ernestina Madragon was pulled over by the police in Dallas, she understood that she'd be getting a ticket that she deserved for making an illegal U-turn. It was the citation on the ticket for "not speaking English" and the accompanying fine that confused her. "He asked me if I spoke English. I said I speak a little and understand it," Madragon said.

A "Hispanics Keep Out" sign has proudly been displayed on the front of a home in Azle, Texas, for the last several months. It has caused tension in the neighborhood, with many residents expressing a desire to see it taken down. The mayor of Azle also spoke out against the sign, assuring residents that it is not a view shared by most in the town.

Mexico City newspaper El Mundo reports that the mayor of San Angelo, a small town in the shepherding region of Texas, has resigned from his post and moved to Mexico with his gay partner, who also happens to be an illegal immigrant.

Eva Longoria-Parker took a break from her gym routine and working on Desperate Housewives to come out in support of presidential-hopeful Hillary Clinton, whose fate in the primary will likely be determined today. Wearing a conservative white suit and big, Texas-style hair, Eva attended a town hall meeting in her home state today to rally Democrats to vote for Clinton.
