The Norwegian Nobel Committee turned international attention back to Syria on Friday when it awarded the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize to chemical weapons watchdog, The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

According to The Huffington Post, the prize was given to the organizaton for "its extensive efforts to eliminate chemical weapons."
