Afro-Spanish singer Buika is kicking off a stateside tour this Friday in Chicago and if her last album, El Último Trago is any indication, she’s bound to unleash a torrent of raw emotion that will make you feel completely vulnerable. That’s the effect Buika has on everyone, including her good friend Pedro Almodóvar, who wrote the liner notes in the CD. We recently sat down with the 37-year-old songstress to talk lyrics, love and heartbreak. Here’s what she had to say:

Although there is much public controversy on Michelle Obama's choice to vacation in Southern Spain with her nine-year-old daughter, Sasha, and friends, we must admit it is a fabulous destination. Here are a few highlights of their trip:
Wednesday, Day one: Mother and daughter (along with security and friends) strolled along the cobbled streets of old town Marbella stopping at small shops.

After a five-day tour of the southern region of Spain, First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughter, Sasha, ended their vacation yesterday with lunch at Spain’s royal family retreat on the resort island of Mallorca. King Juan Carlos, who gave a warm welcome to the First Lady by kissing her hand, Queen Sophia, and the fashionable Princess Letizia, greeted them.

At the end of First Lady Michelle Obama and daughter Sasha's vacation in Spain last week, they met the Spanish royal family for lunch in Palma de Mallorca.
The classically beautiful Princess Letizia went head-to-head with America's fashionable First Lady. Mrs. Obama wore a white bow blouse, coral full skirt and shiny gold flats. Princess Letizia (above, right) dressed things up with a white one-shouldered sheath dress with a statement bauble necklace and nude platform sandals.

Spain won the 2010 FIFA World Cup yesterday, defeating the Netherlands 1-0 in extra time. The winning goal was scored by Andres Iniesta, who removed his jersey to reveal a white t-shirt that read: "Dani Jarque siempre con nosotros" (Dani Jarque always with us).

In less than a week Mala Rodriguez will drop her fourth album Dirty Bailarina (out May 18; Universal), a title that is meant to evoke the image of “a woman who expresses her art without fear of getting dirty.” Sound interesting?

Vocalist Eva Amaral teamed up with guitarist Juan Aguirre when they were students to form the pop-rock act Amaral in 1998. Since then, they’ve sold over two million records so perhaps it’s time we get to know the dynamic duo behind one of Spain’s hottest bands. I caught up with them a few days before their showcase at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas this week and here’s what they had to say.
Are you ready to conquer the North American market?

Early in his career, chef Jose Andres trained at the legendary El Bulli under none other than the famed Ferran Adria. Hearing the announcement that El Bulli will close for the next two years, I felt wistful for a taste of Spain and a bit depressed that I may never have the chance to eat at one of the world's best restaurants. Luckily, I found just the remedy with Andres's Tapas: A Taste of Spain in America.
