Mariah Carey is joining both the U.S. and the UK versions of The X Factor, Deadline confirms. Simon Cowell, who spearheads the singing competition, has repeatedly mentioned his interest in having the singer jump on board as a “mentor” to the new show’s contestants, and it looks like he finally got his way. Although Mariah has laid low since giving birth to twins, it looks like she is ready to hop back into the limelight.

It looks like Mariah Carey is heading to FOX's The X Factor!
For months now, the web has been buzzing with rumors that Mimi would be joining her good friend, Simon Cowell on his new reality competition (which is set to debut on FOX on September 21st). Now, Cowell is confirming that he wants Mimi on the show full-time. "You can't say no to Mariah," Cowell, 51, tells People.com.

The battle of the Davids ended with a surprise twist last night, when Missouri rocker David Cook beat out teen prodigy David Archuleta on American Idol. A record-smashing 97.5 million votes were cast by AI viewers, and Cook won by a solid 12 million, according to the show's host, Ryan Seacrest.

Like one happily dysfunctional family, American Idol’s host and judges appeared on Larry King Live Monday night to promote this week’s special charity episode, Idol Gives Back. Ryan Seacrest, Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell took questions from the quirky CNN host and offered a totally honest prediction of each contestant’s fate on the show. Who came out on top? Our boy David Archuleta, of course! “He’s the one to beat, Larry. He really is,” said Cowell.

The juggernaut show revealed its Top 12 for Season Seven on Thursday night, and although the super-fierce Danny Noriega failed to make the cut (we’ll miss you!), the show’s remaining four Latino contestants are headed to the next round.
