Mariah Carey is joining both the U.S. and the UK versions of The X Factor, Deadline confirms.  Simon Cowell, who spearheads the singing competition, has repeatedly mentioned his interest in having the singer jump on board as a “mentor” to the new show’s contestants, and it looks like he finally got his way. Cook Beats Archuleta on 'American Idol'
