Shakira may not be able to Barack the Vote herself this November, but she's using her influence over young voters in America to put the senator from Illinois in the White House.
“I support Barack Obama because I think that he is the person that can bring the world the true American message,” Shakira said in a statement. “I feel in my heart that he would be able to reconstruct peace and confidence in the United States.”

Now that they've seen what Shakira's hips can do, music conglomerate Live Nation wants to see what the rest of her can deliver. The Colombian pop star, who's single "Hips Don't Lie" catapulted to the top of the charts in 2006 and made her subsequent Oral Fixation tour one of the most popular in the last decade, is on the verge of signing a multimillion dollar deal with all-in-one music behemoth, worth close to $70 million according to the New York Post, though insiders say Shaki is worth quite a bit more.

Grammy winner and legendary hip-shaker Shakira is once again using her fame for good: The UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador is auctioning off her guitars, belly dancing skirt, jewellry and other items from her Oral Fixation tour for a 10-day charity auction through eBay Giving Works. Proceeds will go to her Barefoot Foundation (Fundación Pies Descalzos) and bidding is open Feb. 1–10.

Shakira will be taking a break from performing to take acting classes and perfect her English, reports La Mega radio. The reason: She wants to break into Hollywood. For now, Shaki fans can get their fix with three songs she's recorded for the soundtrack to the new movie Love In The Time of Cholera: "Hay Amores" (a bolero), "La despedida" (Andean-style music), and a new version of "Pienso en Ti".
