David, now 37, was abducted by his father and taken to live in Mexico when he was a toddler, reports NBC Latino. His mother, who lives in Wisconsin, spent years searching for him.

The San Diego border opened this weekend, briefly, to Mexico, and the scene was an emotional one for many. After officials opened the gate in Friendship Park, a small park along the border, family members got to see and touch their loved ones they hadn't touched in many years. One of these loved ones was Luis Angulo, who lives in the U.S. on a temporary visa. He was able to hug his 5-year-old daughter, Jimena, for the first time ever.

Milestone birthdays are usually accompanied with mixed feelings, and for Thalía, who just turned 40, the mood is one of sadness.

“I have never faced such a difficult week in my life,” the Mexican singer tweeted on Monday. “On the 25th, my son Matthew is two months old, the 26th is my birthday and on the 27th, it will be three months since my mother passed away. I am convinced that these are challenges that life puts out to strengthen our souls.”
