Sabado Gigante is a staple in many Latino households. Before you knew who Bob Barker and Oprah were, you were watching Don Francisco and his gang. That’s probably why you didn’t realize it sooner, but Sabado Gigante is completely bizarre. The part contest, part variety show has the oddest cast of characters, songs and segments. In the more than 50 years that it has filled a weekly three-hour block, it’s had plenty of time for ridiculous antics. But here are the 10 craziest things about the show (that you know you love):

Bienvenida a Sábado Gigante, Michelle Obama!
The Miami Herald reports that the First Lady will be joining Don Francisco on Sábado Gigante this Saturday. Mrs. Obama will appear during the popular kids' segement, "Conversando con los Niños."

Last night The Voice featured one of the most Latino moments on network TV ever. Let us explain. Cuban American singer, Monique Abbadie, a former child performer on Sabado Gigante (yes, that Sabado Gigante) sang Shakira’s “Loca.” Abbadie’s rendition of Shak’s song was, on some notes, better than the original. The result: all four judges hit their buttons. The young singer squealed out an “Ay Dios mio!” Shakira’s fellow judges knew which team Abbadie, who as a pre-teen had taken a picture with Shakira after one of her concerts, was going to pick.
