Amarildo de Souza went missing in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on July 14, 2013 after being stopped by police for questioning. His disappearance has gained an unprecedented amount of attention -- and police have become the target of blame.
“We’re not going to get my father back alive. All I want now is justice, that’s it,” Anderson de Souza said. “Things have only gotten worse since the police came here. At least when the drug gangs had control, we knew the rules. Now, there is only fear. Police are snatching people up randomly, just like my dad.”

A videographer by the name of Joe Capra was sent to Rio de Janeiro to snag footage of the city for an electronics manufacturer, but the time-lapse video has managed to get people excited for the upcoming olympic games.

Rio Carnaval kicks off this Friday and the Brazilian government is boosting its efforts to keep party-goers safe—by handing out 65 million free condoms. This will be a 20 million increase over what it usually distributes every other month. The prophylactics are given to state agencies, which will then give them out at parties and events nationwide.

The Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes has condemned billboards that are currently up in Italy which depict men, dressed as police from the bustling Brazilian city, molesting and arresting models.
Mayor Paes told Rio's O Globo newspaper that he is considering petitioning the Italian embassy to ask that Relish clothing, the brainchild behind the advertisements, take down the billboards in Italy, which Paes says are "in bad taste."
