Dallas Woman Ticketed for Not Speaking English
By Mariela Rosario | 10/26/2009 - 16:08

When Ernestina Madragon was pulled over by the police in Dallas, she understood that she'd be getting a ticket that she deserved for making an illegal U-turn. It was the citation on the ticket for "not speaking English" and the accompanying fine that confused her. "He asked me if I spoke English. I said I speak a little and understand it," Madragon said.

In an unusual move, Fidel Castro, 83, recently used his column in Granma, the state-run newspaper of Cuba, to defend President Obama.

Declaring that the right-wingers who oppose Obama's policy hate the president because he is black, Castro said, "I don't have the slightest doubt that the racist right will do everything possible to wear him down, blocking his program to get him out of the game one way or another."

David Arquette issued an apology for the racist remarks he spouted on Fox and Friends last week. In case you missed it, the "actor" first claimed that he was an expert on Latinos because he was born and raised in Los Angeles, and then said that while some Latina women have good judgment, others are "just nuts" in reference to Sonia Sotomayor's Supreme Court Nomination.

Steven Colbert on Sotomayor and the "Neutral Man's Burden"
By Mariela Rosario | 07/20/2009 - 14:00

Steven Colbert took to his show, The Colbert Report, to address the issues raised during last week's Senate Confirmation hearings about Sonia Sotomayor's life experiences and possible biases. He uses a really great analogy about band-aids and crayola crayons and the "neutrality" of the flesh colors that we really wish we had dreamt up first.

Check it out and tell us: Do you agree that the "impartiality" questions posed by many of the Republican senators last week were racist?

By Mariela Rosario | 07/17/2009 - 12:45

By Christine Estevez | 07/16/2009 - 17:33

Bruno’s at it again. This time the Austrian fashionista’s target is the sensuous Salma Hayek. While going to the spa for a quick wax job he makes a few jokes at the expense of Mexicans, Miss Hayek in particular. Bruno says his first choice spa was the place where the sultry mexicana “gets her hairy ass done.” He then makes a joke about the spa workers making a coat of her discarded body hair.
