It seemed as though everyone was Puerto Rican on Sunday along New York City’s Fifth Avenue. That’s because the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade made its presence known, roaring its way down the streets with cheerful shouts of "Boricua!" and a sea of red, white, and blue.

Known as the largest parade in New York City, the Puerto Rican Day Parade attracts over two million spectators a year and transforms the city streets into an epicenter of island pride. Colorful flags will adorn Fifth Avenue and 44th Street all the way up until 79th Street this Sunday, June 10th. We couldn’t help but do a double take when we saw the Cuban flag being used to promote the 2012 Puerto Rican Day Parade, which takes place on June 10. The cover features Superbowl champion and Latina’s June/July cover model, Victor Cruz, who will be representing Boricua pride with his own float this Sunday.

After much pressure, Telenovela star Osvaldo Rios-Alonso announced this week that he has withdrawn from this Sunday’s National Puerto Rican Day Parade as Padrino International. “It has never been my intention to divide a community,” said Rios-Alonso in a statement.
