Kate Winslet is a dream crusher! Just kidding (ish), but the English actress definitely delivered a sad blow to our Oscar hopes last night with her double win at the 2009 Golden Globes. Winslet beat out Penelope Cruz early in the night, taking home the Best Supporting Actress prize for her role in the little-seen The Reader. Then, she shocked everyone by winning the Best Actress award over Anne Hathaway for her performance in Revolutionary Road, the drama period piece in which she plays opposite Leonardo DiCaprio.

The Penelope Cruz Oscar race just got a little murkier. At the Critic's Choice Awards last night in Santa Monica, the actress actually lost an award...*sniffle*...in the Best Supporting Actress category. The honors went to Kate Winslet instead, for her role in a little flick no one saw called The Reader. Luckily for Kate, we love her as much as Eva Mendes does, so we won't hold any grudges.

While their colleagues were busy claiming "Worst Celeb of '08" status, these four stars made all the right moves and looked fabulous while doing it. That, friends, is the definition of A-list...but there can only be one at the top! So who was the Best Latino Celebrity of 2008: Penelope Cruz, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin or Jessica Alba? You decide.

The Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were announced this morning, and we'd like to say felicidades to America Ferrera, who will vie for Oustanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. The Ugly Betty star won the award in 2007 but lost to 30 Rock's Tina Fey this year, so expect a showdown between these TV divas when the awards air on January 25! Or maybe not, since neither of them is particularly diva-like, and everyone and their dog is obsessed with Tina this year...but here's hoping anyway.

We all know Salma and Penélope are besties for life, but it is really cool how much they give each other props! Salma, speaking on her amigas chances of Academy Award glory said, "I am sure that she will win the Oscar this year." Agreed, Salma. Cruz's performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona was amazing and she has swept every award she has been nominated for thus far so that is a pretty accurate prediction if you ask us.

The good news keeps coming for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which scored four nominations today for the 2009 Golden Globes. The quirky little movie about travel, art, polyamory and hot sexy Spaniards was nominated for Best Feature - Comedy, while Javier Bardem picked up a nomination for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical and Rebecca Hall for Best Actress. Winners won't be announced until the show goes down on January 11 in Beverly Hills and airs live on NBC.

Today in Penelope Cruz Oscar buzz, Pé scores two more Best Supporting Actress nods for her performance in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, officially making her the indisputable frontrunner for Oscar glory!
