I love my curly hair now, although I wasn’t a fan of my locks growing up. My friends all had sleek straight hair and most of my family members have wavy hair. I felt awkward. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t get a brush through my tight curls, while all the other girls could comb their hair during recess. More often than not, I ended up pulling it into a ponytail. But eventually, I found solace in music, novellas and films—not from the lyrics or the plots, but from the confident curly-haired Latinas I saw in the spotlight.

This Golden Girl made a glam appearance at the 2009 Billboard Latin Music Awards held in Florida last month. The two are buddies, and thankfully he’s made it easy for us to get a little more familiar with his style.

Paulina Rubio didn't just turn into a free spirit overnight. According to La Botana.com, the Mexican pop star recently revealed—in a little too much detail, actually—that she started exploring her sexuality at a very early age and lost her virginity before she'd even hit puberty: “I was very young. My boobs hadn’t even grown yet," says Rubio.

Paulina Rubio will have to take time off from finishing her new album to appear in court. The pop star faces charges of assaulting paparazzi photographer Luz Amanda Orozco that date back to 2006, when the female shutterbug says Rubio struck her with a large purse as she snapped photos of the star at Miami International Airport.

Or is it a recipe for disaster? I've been raising this question about more than a few giant music stars, since their strategy of late seems to be total sound reinvention...but it's particularly interesting with respect to Paulina Rubio. On her latest YouTube video, La Chica Dorada herself says she's almost done recording her new album and picking its first single (click below to watch).
