We know Nick Cannon is a funny, happy guy, but we couldn’t help but feel a little bad for Mr. Carey when, while standing outside of a NYC restaurant, he joked with TMZ that he was going to buy wife Mariah “a bald eagle” for her 39th birthday on Friday.

Only the very best for Mimi! Mariah Carey and hubby Nick Cannon recently made a bid for the Fleur de Lys, the world's most expensive estate, with an estimated value of $125 million. The home was purchased and extensively renovated by Texas billionaire David Saperstein in the early '90s, but is currently owned by his ex-wife Suzanne, whom he left for their Swedish nanny in a messy divorce. The Fleur de Lys, located in Beverly Hills, CA, is a five-acre estate with a 41,000-square foot French limestone mansion based on France's legendary Vaux le Vicomte palace.

Nick Cannon is quickly forging a new career as his wife's favorite collaborator. Mariah Carey's hubby recently directed a music video for her single, "My Love," and now France's Tele Loisirs magazine reports that he's helping her write new songs, too.

It seems like Mariah Carey sure loves mixing business with pleasure these days. Carey and her hubby of almost a year, Nick Cannon, have been joined at the hip lately. They've made joint appearances at both the Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, where he deejayed and she performed and the Sundance Film Festival, where they each had their own respective movies to promote. (Side note: we can not WAIT to see Push!)

Mariah Carey is making sure she and husband Nick Cannon remain recession proof. This New Year’s Eve found Madame Butterfly on the isle of St. Barths belting out tunes to the price tag of $1 million. Yup, you heard right. Saif Khadafy, son of Libyan leader Muammar Khadafy, invited (and paid) Carey to bring in 2009 at his New Year’s Eve extravaganza at the super posh Nikki Beach nightclub.

And they said this would never last. Mariah Carey and her husband of just over half a year, Nick Cannon, are as happy as ever. Since tying the knot last April, the couple have been practically attached at the hip, walking red carpets, shopping and making club appearances on both coasts.
The singer told Us Weekly at the Whitney Museum of Art gala in New York City that married life is "amazing! It's the best thing ever." She was at the gala to support her hubby, who DJed the after party.

There was tons of speculation that Mariah Carey was planning the wedding bash to end all wedding bashes after her quickie marriage to Nick Cannon. The once larger-than-life diva, however, is getting pretty good at quietly throwing off the media frenzy. She finally had that party last weekend, but it wasn't the grandiose spectacle we expected. In fact it was "about the most elegant, laid-back event of the Hamptons season so far, and also the most private," according to Fox News.

Did she forget about Dre? Sultry pop star Christina Milian appears to have given her long-term boyfriend Dre (of producing duo Cool and Dre) the boot, and has reportedly been spending time with a new man, musician Mams Taylor. Never heard any of his tracks? Neither have we. But, you may remember him as the a-hole who knocked out Desperate Housewives star (and fellow a-hole) Jesse Metcalfe with a single punch outside of a nightclub last February.
Still doesn't ring a bell? Yeah, not for us, either.

Those who expect only spectacles from media darling Mariah Carey will be surprised to hear her latest plans—escaping the limelight to become a mother. Only a couple of months since her impulsive quickie marriage to Nick Cannon, the songstress told Elle "I can't wait to make Nick Cannon a dad…I couldn't imagine anybody that I've ever met being a better dad."
