Narciso Rodriguez, fashion designer extraordinaire, will be one of the honorees at one of Latinos’ biggest nights happening tomorrow: the annual El Museo Del Barrio gala. Julianna Margulies will present Rodriguez with the award for artistic achievement to honor his career and longtime patronage to El Museo del Barrio. Rodriguez is definitely a designer that we are proud to call our own, so we took some time to chat with him about being honored by this Latino institution and his roots.

As sensational as fashion week is, you’re sometimes left wondering what it all means to you—as in, you may not plan to rock the spray painted hypercolor hair at Narciso Rodriguez (although go for it if you want!). But this year, especially, the overarching beauty trend was fresh, young, and gorgeous, which means there are plenty of useful, easy-to-copy beauty trends you will want to try. Here are our faves:

Narciso Rodriguez’s Spring 2012 show was all about refinement with a twist. The collection was surprising at time, but the aesthetic was so Narciso. The vibe was sophisticated with its clean lines and graceful-movement fabrics, but the constant throughout was the cool asymmetry in neckl and hemlines. The show began with the designer’s signature black and white but rolled right into blocks of red, orange and aqua. Want to be on trend for much less than these pricey designer duds? Take a look!

We’ve come to know what to expect of Narciso Rodriguez’s beauty philosophy. He likes everything to look minimal and modern (think: nude nails, no makeup-makeup, and straight, sleek hair).

The Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2011 fashion show at Lincoln Center was nothing short of a who's who in the fashion world. Although the guest list may have been high maintenance, the collection had a minimalist air best demonstrated by the long dresses in muted colors Rodriguez sent down the runway. "There were many things that inspired this collection," Rodriguez told Latina.com. "The work of video artist Jennifer Steinkamp, women of great personal style like Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and photos of Kate Moss in the mid 90s."

After 30 years of creating elegant, unforgettable pieces, Venezuelan-born designer Carolina Herrera receives the distinguished “Mercedes-Benz Presents” title for this season’s spring/summer 2011 collection.
"I am very proud to be chosen as the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ designer," Herrera said in a press statement. "To be recognized in such an important year in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week history, is, without question, a wonderful honor."

At the Fall 2010 runway shows of designers Juan Carlos Obando and Narciso Rodriguez, there was something strangely absent from the faces of all their models: mascara.
To provide a cleaner, fresher and more modern look, eyelashes were—gasp!—left bare. They were merely curled beforehand for a subtle, yet feminine touch. What do you say chicas: Are you ready to drop your wands this fall and go for a more natural stare?
