Come fall, we will be able to see how Puerto Rico looked back in the 1950s—thanks to the new film The Rum Diary, which hits theatres October 28. Johnny Depp stars in the film, based on the semi-biographical book by late journalist/author Hunter S. Thompson, about a freelance journalist at a crossroads in his career who travels to the island in hopes of finding a secure niche for himself. — Colombia has its first 3D animated film out next month, Tr3s reports. Directed by Jairo Carrillo, Pequeñas Voces (Little Voices) it is a compilation of four children (ages 8-13) telling their own life stories. According to the website, Pequeñas Voces is about how Colombia’s internal guerrilla way has affected its youth. Adult voices are completely ignored in the film.
