After being rescheduled three times, my bridal shower finally happened and it was totally a success!! I couldn’t have asked for a better time spent with the women I love. The day was filled with surprises, games, heartfelt wishes, a little crying, and of course unlimited mimosas. Here are some photos to recap the lovely brunch bridal shower. I hope you can feel the love from the photos like I did that day.

Although I must admit I haven't really been going by a legit "to-do" list like most brides, I think I've been doing pretty well keeping everything organized and getting things done.

I am a strong believer in people really owning their craft and showing their talents by being their own #1 spokesperson. For example, as a fashion editor it would be a sin for me to walk around wearing high-water wide leg jeans, so naturally when looking for my make-up artist the first thing I did instead of looking at their portfolio is look at them. It amazes me to see so many “make-up artists” looking jacked up and not really selling their services to the fullest.

As you all know a few months back I postponed my wedding date. As a result, I had to decide how I wanted to follow-up with my guests to notify them of the new date for my big day. I really didn’t want to do the website thing because I simply don’t like it, so I caved in and ordered some simple laser print invites. I felt it was important for the new invite to be complimentary to the original invite, so I made sure it was designed based off of what I’d already sent out.

When thinking of a perfect father/daughter song to dance at my wedding, what comes to mind is an old school salsa song. I know some of you may think it’s a bit impersonal and not typical father/daughter music to dance to, but there are several reason why a salsa song is very fitting for my papi and I.

The time has finally come when I get to do fun stuff like figuring out what hairdo I want for my wedding day! I’m exposed to so many amazing hair and make-up artists that I think I might be a little more picky than the average bride, so I wanted to make sure I chose the right person. I’m not difficult to work with, but I do have a vision and I decided I didn’t want a very well known hairstylist that would end up being more high-maintenance than me, the bride.

I recently found out that my sis and mom are planning my bridal shower and I’m very excited for the festivities begin! I’m even more excited about the dress I intend on wearing; it is THE perfect dress for a bridal shower, in fact I have had the dress in my closet for a couple of months now, just waiting to be worn on this particular day.

When Hector and I began planning our wedding we kind of decided against giving each other presents. I know many people believe it’s a tradition, but we figured a wedding is enough money and our honeymoon can be our gift to each other. And honestly, I don’t even know the meaning behind the “tradition”. However, now that the date is getting closer I am seriously considering gifting him something. I know my man, and he is always surprising me with gifts and I would feel terrible if he surprises me once again on our wedding day and I didn’t return the gesture.

Getting married to the person you love and want to spend the rest of your life with is such a beautiful testament to the relationship you have with one another. I can’t wait until the day comes for me to experience that milestone in my own life and I believe EVERYONE should be entitled to this form of expression. The right to wed should be solely based on love and not on gender.

While there is still some time for wedding preparations I think it’s smart to start thinking about our honeymoon. I know some of you may think that a honeymoon is not important or something I shouldn’t make a priority, but traveling is something both Hector and I love to do, so this trip will really represent us as a married couple. Honeymoons can get pretty expensive and will take some time to plan, so I’d like to get this out of the way before I get crazed with last-minute wedding stuff.
