Well, I've come to the end of my weekly Modern Latina Bride blog. For my last post, I wanted to share a few pictures of the day. It was quite a journey, but everything came together so wonderfully that day—all that hard work for the past 6 months really paid off. Of course, nothing is ever without glitches: I ended up forgetting my veil at the hotel! And some of our relatives brought more people than they had RSVP'd for (¡ay, nuestras familias!).

Chris and I reserved the last few weeks before our big day for all the little finishing details. With all the bigger decisions made, we had a bit of time to focus on particulars like the invites and stationery, the cake, seating chart, finally booking our limo and the favors.

With most of our important vendors out of the way, Chris and I started thinking about the actual ceremony and reception. It was at this point that the differences with our religious backgrounds became a sort of issue for us. Chris’s family is devout Catholic. My family, on the other hand, is hard-core Pentecostal; my parents are pastors, my uncles are pastors, most of my cousins are super devoted to the faith.

Choosing a caterer. This was possibly the most time-consuming and difficult of our decisions—one which I thought would be the most fun, with all the taste testing and yummy options! If you have decided for a catering hall or location that provides the food, then this is one of the pieces of the wedding that you won’t have to deal with.

By July, Chris and I had picked a place for the wedding, but we still had some other little details to explore and decide on. There was definitely a lot left to do! So far we were pretty much on our timeline target, and we didn’t want to slow down.

I never thought it would be so hard to select a place to have our wedding. Chris and I knew that we wanted to have the ceremony and reception in the same location, but beyond that, our ideas differed drastically. He was partial to some catering halls, while I wanted nothing to do with those wedding factories.

In the first few weeks after Chris and I came back from our vacation engaged, there was a flurry of confusion about what exactly to do regarding wedding planning. I remember trying to think of who to call, what to ask, what books to read—I just wanted to get a handle on everything and so I could get started. Being the bookworm that I am, I promptly downloaded 5 wedding books onto my Kindle and read pretty much all of them. Each book of course said something different, but the main theme that was common among all of them: Get organized!

There was a lot going on during the reception – lots of tears, laughs, dancing, etc. and my wedding photographer Teresa Horgan captured it all! I hope you can get a sense of the love that was in that room that day because I did and I’ll never forget it! As you read this, Hector and I are officially on our honeymoon in Thailand and Hong Kong and when I return you’ll see my last set of photos and experience of my life after the wedding.
