It’s only been out for 17 days, but James Cameron’s Avatar is blowing away the competition and breaking records. It’s been number one in the U.S. for three straight weeks, raising its domestic total to $352.1 million. The film, starring Zoe Saldana and Michelle Rodriguez, has crossed the $1 billion mark worldwide, a feat that has only been achieved by a total of five films. In fact, Cameron’s 1997’s Titanic maintains the top spot with $1.8 billion earned worldwide.

Zoë Saldana seems to be carving a niche for herself in the sci-fi film department, and hard-core fans of the genre couldn’t be happier. The Star Trek star was recently nominated for two Scream awards, which honor the best in the sci-fi, fantasy, horror and comedy genres. "Eight out of the ten highest grossing films of all time are in the Scream genres, which is due to the incredible passion and loyalty of these fans," said Casey Patterson, executive producer of the awards show.
