New Poll Shows Most Americans Favor Legalizing Marijuana

A recent poll conducted by Gallup revealed that for the first time, a large portion of Americans are in favor of legalizing marijuana.

According to the poll, 58 percent of Americans feel marijuana should be legalized, in comparison to only 12 percent who were in favor of it in 1969 -- the year the question was first asked by Gallup.

In the 1970s, support for marijuana legalization grew to 28 percent. Fast forward to 2011, 50 percent of Americans were in favor.
