Las Vegas was all about female power on last night’s American Idol! The top ten graced the stage as voting was finally opened up to fans at home. The infamous Zoanette kicked things off with a karaoke-worthy performance of Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It," which the judges painfully laughed at. Thankfully, that was just the start of the evening.

Sudden death round 2 delivered quite the soul last night on American Idol, when the guys battled it out for the top 10.
Cuban cutie Lazaro Arbos continued to break hearts with his story about growing up with a speech impediment and taking a job at an ice cream shop so he didn't have to do "smart people stuff like talking."
The crowd loved his rendition of Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry," but ironically Urban himself wasn't a fan.

It was round two of sudden death on American idol last night and the ladies were up first again this week. We thought only one Latina remained (Tenna Torres) until a stunning performance of Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Your Windows" by New Orleans native Breanna Steer drove judge Nicki Minaj to ask what her nationality was.
"I'm a lot of things," Steer said. "I'm Honduran, Black, Creole."
"You're giving me sexy on a stick," Minaj said to our newfound Latina.

American Idol introduced a new twist to narrow down their semi-finalists in the form of sudden death rounds. The 40 contestants remaining will brave it out on stage in Las Vegas in the hopes of making the top 20 and meeting the judges back in Hollywood, but only five out of ten will get chosen in the course of the next four episodes.

The ladies ran the show on this week’s American Idol! While we were huge fans of Jessica Sanchez last season, she couldn’t beat Philip Philips' appeal on the show. While the judges constantly reminded us that a woman hasn’t claimed the Idol throne since Jordan Sparks six years ago, we were desperately hoping for a Latina to take the stage and rock it!

Several significant cuts were made on last night’s male solo night on American Idol. Our hearts sank a little once Matheus Fernandes was cut from the competition. The 22-year-old singer appeared nervous about performing with a live band, but took the stage anyway and sang Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger.” Before his set, Fernandes mentioned his height challenge and how people bullied him growing up.

Ageists be warned, your mind is about to be blown!

It was all about the boys for American Idol’s first round of Hollywood week. Out of 277 male contestants, half were given the boot last night, which created plenty of meltdowns and Amen moments for the rookie singers. The producers divided all of the men in groups of four to see if their Idol spirits were as on-point as their first auditions.
