Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has been chosen by the Democratic Party to chair the national convention this summer in Charlotte, North Carolina. Democrats hope that by choosing the Mexican American Mayor as chair Latinos will be encouraged to lend their support to Barack Obama, who the Democrats are expected to nominate for re-election, and other party candidates.

According to the Los Angeles Times, George Lopez did quite the good deed this week. On June 4, the San Fernando (Calif.) High baseball team won the Los Angeles City Section Division I title. Not only their triumph was a big deal because they earned their title and a championship ring. It also was their first title since 1991, claiming their victory 8-6 over Chatsworth at Dodger Stadium.

Proving that she may actually be the Energizer Bunny in a cat suit, J.Lo wowed the crowd not once, but twice, at this year’s Wango Tango (the concert put on every spring by KIIS FM in Los Angeles).
