Mexican Author Carlos Fuentes Monitored by FBI, Documents Show

Carlos Fuentes had been watched closely for years. According to NBC Latino, the late Mexican author was monitored closely by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. State Department for more than 20 years.

The reason? The author, who died in 2012 from an internal hemorrhage, was apparently considered to a communist and sympathizer of Cuba's Fidel Castro.
