Comcast and NBC Universal’s $30 billion merger, finalized January of last year, is an expensive venture that will provide more networks targeting Latinos in the U.S. Famous film director Robert Rodriguez will be the force behind the new Latino network titled El Rey Network. Rodriguez will also be partnering alongside FactoryMade Ventures CEO John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa.

Sí TV will bid farewell to its name within the next few months. The English-language network has launched an extensive initiative to become “nuvoTV”, which will – according to the announcement – better reflect the network’s dual cultural pillars: Latino and American.  The rebranding, which will go into effect on July 4, 2011, comes at a time when last year’s U.S. Census results continue to reveal the eye-catching growth of the nation’s Latino population.

It's been just two weeks since Cristian De La Fuente underwent surgery for a torn tendon in his bicep but don’t expect to find him in bed! Just one day after his stitches were removed, the Dancing with the Stars third-placer was spotted rocking a brace in Disneyland while posing for pics with his dancing partner, Cheryl Burke. Jimmy Smits is staying in the family business—the actor has joined the cast of Showtime's hit series Dexter. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jimmy will portray Miguel Prado, a charismatic and ambitious district attorney who comes from one of Miami's most powerful and prestigious families.

Sound familiar? It should, considering Jimmy's last role was as on CBS's ill-fated drama Cane, in which he played the charismatic and ambitious scion of the Duque clan—one of Miami's most powerful and prestigious families.

The prodigal son came home...well, almost. American Idol runner-up David Archuleta was set to perform a charity concert in his hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah, as a way to thank his many fans in the state, but producers of the hit show pulled the plug on the performance a few days before.
