As a child, Susie Jimenez helped her Mexican parents pick fruit. Working alongside her family in the fields helped plant the seed for Jimenez’s long relationship with food, which culminated in a successful culinary career and most recently in her second place finish on The Next Food Network Star. The 31-year-old California native lost to self-appointed “Sandwich King” Jeff Mauro on the show’s finale this past Sunday, but gained a ton of fans along the way.

Selena Gomez recently admitted that part of the reason she fell so sick over the weekend was that she is a junk food addict and was not eating right. With a schedule as crazy as hers, this is something that the former Disney teen queen really has to stay on top of—unless she wants to find herself in the hospital again! Check out this exclusive sneak peek of Sofia Vergara in a brand new Modern Family episode called "The Kiss," airing tomorrow night at 9PM. Vergara's character Gloria is inspired by her late grandmother to make a traditional Colombian dish called chunchullo for family dinner. The other night, I found myself debating whether I should eat out or make something for mi misma. Eating out is sometimes more of a hassle than just conjuring up a meal from a variety of foods in my fridge. Having different types of ingredients lends itself to playing around with the various flavors and ending up with a great fusion dish. If your fridge looks anything like mine (I believe in wasting nada!) you, too, can play around and come up with a simple, yet great dinner.
