Juan Luis Guerra may be a legend in the music game, but he's not above collaborating with the next generation of talent. The Dominican singer announced that he recently hit the studio with Juanes and is working on a duet with the Colombian pop star. What's more, he hopes to collaborate soon with other young artists, including merenguero El Prodigio and bachata supergroup Aventura.

Lil Wayne and Coldplay (or as our Sound Check blog would say, the abominable Coldplay) might've topped the list of 2008 Grammy nominees, but among the mainstream contenders announced Wednesday night there were plenty of Latin surprises!
The biggest was for newcomer Karina Pasian--the 17-year old Dominican songstress scored a Best Contemporary R&B Album nomination for her self-titled debut, and she'll go head to head with Mary J.

The 9th Annual Latin Grammys just came to a close, and the night's bigwinner is definitely Juanes. The singer swept all themajor categories, taking home awards for Best Male Pop Vocal, Album ofthe Year, Song of the Year, Best Short Form Music Video and Record ofthe Year. Juanes now has a total of 17 Grammys. Might be time to clearsome shelf space!

The coolest names in Latin American music converged in Mexico City Thursday night for Los Premios MTV Latinoamerica 2008, where thick red tongues (not moon men) are the coveted prize and reggaeton artists are hard to find--and that's not a bad thing!

Lila Downs and up-and-comer Ximena Sariñana were amongst the artists who woke up at the crack of dawn today to announce the nominees for 2008 Latin Grammy awards. Cafè Tacuba, Juanes and Gustavo Santaolalla had cause for celebration, accumulating the most nominations.
