Jessica Sanchez may have been praised for her soulful cover of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary," but it was her outfit that startled some American Idol viewers. Once the half-Mexican contestant was called to face possible elimination along with country singer Sklar Laine, Sanchez received some criticism from vocal coach, Jimmy Lovine, but it had nothing to do about her lyrics.

We have said it since day one: Jessica Sanchez rocks! The half-Mexican contestant is officially part of the top 5 finalists on American Idol. Last night’s episode was all about the 60s and British pop. The 16-year-old may be too young to remember bellbottoms and floral polyester shirts, but she sang a beautiful rendition of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.”

Jessica Sanchez’s infamous alter ego was back on American Idol last night. The 16-year-old contestant was claiming her seat to the Idol throne with a rocking cover of Queen’s 1975 hit, “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Sanchez wasn’t quite the queen of rock and was criticized for not being gritty enough in her performance. However, the petite songstress came back strong with an emotional tribute to her dad.

After a soulful performance of Alicia Keys' song "Fallin'," we thought for sure that Jessica Sanchez would end up at the top on American Idol's elimination show. Still, after last week's elimination scare when she ended up in the bottom three, she must have been at least a little worried last night. But her fans saved her from elimination and she got to relax for the rest of the night.

There’s no doubt that Jessica Sanchez has the potential to win American Idol; and no, we didn’t stutter. The competition showcased the remaining 7 finalists for last night’s show and all eyes were on Sanchez’s soulful rendition of Jazmine Sullivan’s, “Stuttering.”
The song may not be very well known, but the teen powerhouse performed a powerful cover that reflected pure stardom. No wonder the 16-year-old wore star earrings! Very fitting if you ask us.

Jessica Sanchez is too young to understand all of the awesomeness the 80’s spawned, but the 16-year-old got into the retro spirit for American Idol's 80's themed show last night.

Tattoo your name across our hearts Jessica Sanchez. The American Idol contestant gave us chills during her flawless rendition of Beyonce’s hit song, “Sweet Dreams,” last night.
The half-Mexican singer’s ballad cover may have had a harp player, but it was anything but a lullaby. Sanchez, who wore a Bey-worthy dress complete with shoulder pads and a chiffon train, nailed an electrifying performance that was more vocally impressive than the original track (sorry Beyonce fans!).

Performing hits like "New York State of Mind" and "My Life," the Idol hopefuls tried to stand out but two emerged as the stars of the night: Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez.
