Alicia Estrada, founder and CEO of Stop Staring! clothing is inspiring us this week. The Mexican-American Los Angeles native starting sewing her own clothes at age 16 and hasn’t looked back since. After a brief stint as an accounting major, the self-described “punk rock girl” took her vintage-influenced style to Long Beach City College’s fashion design program. Soon enough, big boutiques noticed her designs and she grew with the demand. Fourteen years later, the classic looks of Stop Staring! are the favorites of regular girls and red carpet starlets alike.

Angela Rosas is the inspiring Latina for the week because of her passion and commitment to helping and serving people in her community. The 28-year-old Mexican American is the founder and creator of the non-profit organization Chicas Latinas in Sacramento, California. Angela created Chicas Latinas de Sacramento back in 2009 with the goal to increase Latina cultural awareness and volunteerism. The group provides on-going volunteer and community support to organizations such as Weave Inc., The Sacramento Homeless Connect, and The Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center.

Nicole Hernandez, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, achieves her career and personal goals with grace and conviction. The 26-year-old Cuban-American is strongly dedicated to raising funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and developed the Art for a Cure annual fundraiser event in Coral Gables, Miami. She also just completed her Master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Miami. We spoke to her about her efforts to make a change towards diabetes research and what she loves most about being Latina.
