Venezuela recetly expelled the Israeli ambassador from the country in protest over the offensive currently underway in the Hamas controlled Gaza strip. The move by President Hugo Chavez to kick out the diplomat has been the most drastic reaction to the attack on Gaza by a country with ties to Israel. Other countries have protested Israel's offensive, but none besides Venezuela have taken the step of expelling the ambassador.

Straight off the heels of his George Bush biopic, W, director Oliver Stone shocked no one when he announced plans to release a documentary about Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Variety reports Stone has been working on the film for six months and is aiming for an ’09 release. Stone told Variety that the doc will focus on “Chavez and the South American revolution.” It will also highlight the resistance the controversial leader has faced at home and abroad.

Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez has put aside petty quarrels with King Juan Carlos of Spain and offered an open embrace. In response to the snubbing of Alejandro Sanz by Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, as many as 80 Latino artists signed a petition in support of the Spanish singer, stating that they "believe in a Latin America where we are all free to express our views." Sanz made some disparaging comments about Chávez during a press conference in 2007. "I don't like him," Sanz told the local press in reference to the Venezuelan leader.
