The awards were established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month. The awards honor Latino leaders who have made a positive impact in various fields. This year, the awards will be held on September 5 and will air on MundoFox on September 15. This year marks the 25th Hispanic Heritage Awards, and Colombian rocker Juanes will receive special recognition. The 39-year-old superstar, one of the most beloved and internationally known Latino recording artists in the world, will be recognized for his accomplishments both on and off the stage at the ceremony, which will be held on Sept. 15 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. Mexican actress Maite Perroni and Cuban actor William Levy will host the awards gala.
