Ready to steal Jennifer Lopez's chic and sexy hairstyle? This braided bun is a snap to recreate, thanks to the tips by Nick Penna of SalonCapri. Here's how to get the look in six easy steps:
Carefully brush out all the knots in wet hair. Nick recommends that this hairstyle is easiest to start on smooth, untangled hair. When you’re in the shower, apply a dime-size drop of your favorite conditioner so that when you go to comb your wet hair, it doesn’t get caught in knots and break easily.

Ana Ortiz, Selena Gomez and Roselyn Sanchez all showed up at the ALMA Awards with a romantic side-bun that softened their faces and showed off their swan-like necks. Latina.com asked Amy Winer, a Latina hairstylist from Epic Salon in Ventura, California (818-986-2034), for a step-by-step instructional on recreating this camera-ready up-do. “I’ve done this look a lot for special events and award shows,” says Winer, who recently styled the hair for a Baby Phat fashion show. “It’s really a simple up-do that anyone can easily do on herself.”

Braids aren't just for elementary school kids. Nicole Richie and Salma Hayek have been sporting the retro hairstyle at events. It's an earthy goddess look that would make Frida Kahlo proud.
Step 1: On one side of your head, take a 1-to-2 inch piece of hair from above one ear.
Step 2: Hold the piece vertically, pointing upward, and braid it, working from roots to ends (going upwards toward the ceiling). Fasten end of braid with an elastic.

Chignons, or buns, create an incredibly dressed-up effect but are easy to do. They're also verstaile: you can wear the look at the beach or at work as an option to your usual ponytail. And of course, buns are great when you want to look more formal, too...just note how chic our stars look when they wear them on the red carpet! Here’s how to do yours:
SLICK hair back into a middle-to-high ponytail with gel. Don’t leave out any stay hairs unless you are doing the romantic look.
