Gloria Estefan's first career choice wasn't nearly as glamorous and public as the life she leads now. On Telemundo’s Al Rojo Vivo, the soon-to-be retired singer revealed that she once seriously considered an offer to become a CIA spy.

Legendary Cuban songstress Gloria Estefan announced Monday that her upcoming tour of Latin America will mark her final string of performances, as she shifts gears towards family and non-music related projects.
The chart-topping artist broke the news at a press conference to promote the tour, which kicks off April 9 in Uruguay: "These will be the last concerts I do, after I want to focus on my
daughter, who is going to high school and continue working in other
areas," said Estefan.

You'd never know it by the effortless and impeccable way she presents herself every time we see her in public, but Gloria Estefan would rather spend an evening wearing sweats and writing her next hit than dressing up for an awards show.

Jose Feliciano, Andy Garcia, Luis Fonsi, Patti Labelle and John Legend were just some of the celebs that came out to the George R. Brown Convention Center in H-town for the 2008 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year tribute to Estefan.

Estefan has never felt closer to home. Her latest Cuban music album, 90 Millas,
proves you can take the girl out of the island, but you can’t take the island
out of the girl.

Chido: Gloria Estefan will premiere her new film 90 Millas in Dubai this December, reports the Miami Herald. The film, which was directed by husband Emilio Estefan, details the lives of Cuban musicians in exile in the U.S. (kind of a Buena Vista Social Club for stateside performers).
