In the new film Blackthorn, we’re thrust into a blend of legendary tale of adventure in Latin America, with a good old fashioned Western twist. The film (out now OnDemand and October 7th in limited theaters across the U.S.) is helmed by Spanish filmmaker Mateo Gil, known mainly for his screenplays (he wrote the Spanish hit film, Abre Los Ojos, remade in English as Vanilla Sky).

— Colombia has its first 3D animated film out next month, Tr3s reports. Directed by Jairo Carrillo, Pequeñas Voces (Little Voices) it is a compilation of four children (ages 8-13) telling their own life stories. According to the website, Pequeñas Voces is about how Colombia’s internal guerrilla way has affected its youth. Adult voices are completely ignored in the film.

The trailer for Pedro Almodóvar’s highly anticipated new film, La Piel Que Habito (or The Skin That I Inhabit), is out! The horror film stars Antonio Banderas as a plastic surgeon who is searching for the man who raped his daughter. The film is loosely based on Thierry Jonquet’s 1995 novel, “Mygale.”
