This insane, bitterly cold, winter we’re experiencing on the East Coast is making us lust for a magical trip to Europe, as if we could even make it out of this snow. At Joie’s Fall/Winter 2014 presentation, yesterday afternoon, our fantasy escape came true, sort of. For a couple of hours we were whisked away to the streets of Paris where we were greeted with champagne, croissants, and macaroons!

What's not to love about a Betsey Johnson show? She may be abuela status, but the 71-year-old designer consistently teaches the fashion world a thing or two about fun.

What do Fashion Week and food have to do with each other? Well, a lot, depending on who you're asking. Here at The Latin Kitchen, we make everything about food, so it wasn't hard to see the resemblance between some of these cocktail recipes and the trends we've been seeing make their way down the runway at New York Fashion Week.

Backstage at Badgley Mischka, we caught up with design duo Mark Badgley and James Mischka where they shared their Fall 2014 inspiration.
“Fall is all about a polished textured glamour with a modern edge that translates seamlessly from day into evening. The fabrics, palette and embellishment are inspired by the romance and opulence of turn-of the century Vienna, specifically the artistic movements if Gustav Klimt and Josef Hoffman. Badgley Mischka plays textures and dimension with prints and embellishment for a rich, informed luxury.”

Alice + Olivia’s FW '14 collection was an enchanted forest to say the least. Set in the McKittrick Hotel, where “Sleep No More” takes place, you were guided down candlelit hallways before entering Stacey Bendet’s Mid-Winter Night’s Dream. Dresses with brocade, beading, and lace greeted you everywhere you turned, a few serious coats, and then there was THIS:

We were invited backstage during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to chat with Spanish designer Custo Barcelona about his collection for Autum/Winter 2014. This season marks 17 years since the brand was first invited to show at New York Fashion Week!
Tell about the inspiration behind your collection this season!
"The inspiration was to follow the turn from the last collection into sophistication and refinement."

I've seen many desingers show their collections again and again at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Each season, I love attending Custo Barcelona's show because I know it's going to be loads of color (even for Fall fashion week, which is dominated by black, white and gray) and loads of fun. Designer Custo Dalmau is the king of mixing textures with bold colors, and this season was truly a wow moment.
