Legendary activist Dolores Huerta has been on a hunger strike in front of Sen. John McCain's office in Arizona for seven days in support of the DREAM act—hoping to gain attention and support for the bill, which was pushed indefinitely from a senate vote last week.

She is treasured by the Latino community, but she is also internationally recognized for her role in promoting social justice. Listen up! The Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF) has joined forces with the Dolores Huerta Foundation and the Mexican Heritage Corporation (MHC) to organize a series of concerts in California that not only honor Latino culture but also spread awareness about the need for immigration reform. That’s something we can get behind.

Technically, iconic activist Dolores Huerta’s 80th birthday was in April, but she is celebrating in style this Friday, August 13, at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles with an epic concert featuring some of her closest friends. Titled Weaving Moments Together, the benefit concert will unify the progressive social movements Ms. Huerta has championed throughout her extraordinary life, such as human rights for women, immigrant workers, and the gay community.

Taboo, of the Black Eyed Peas has recorded a song protesting Arizona's SB 1070 bill, scheduled to go into effect tomorrow, July 29th. He starts off the single, entitled "One Heart, One Beat" by spelling out the motivation behind the recording. "It takes one person to stand up for what he believes in," says Taboo. "I believe there’s been an injustice in Arizona.
