Demi Lovato recently admitted that she is struggling with bipolar disorder and her first big TV interview since entering a Chicago-area rehab clinic to fight her self-destructive urges is airing tomorrow on ABC news. Over the last few weeks, we’ve been really impressed by Demi’s openness and honesty about the mental and emotional issues she is fighting. These are problems so many young women suffer with in silence and for her to put a face to something so personal is truly brave.

In a new interview with People, former Disney star Demi Lovato has admitted that, in addition to battling anorexia, bulimia and self-mutilation, she is bipolar (also known as manic-depressive). It’s a disease affecting millions of Americans across all ages and ethnic groups that is characterized by abnormally elevated moods (mania) interspersed with periods of depression.

"Love is louder than the pressure to be perfect." That’s the message Demi Lovato wishes to send girls her age that may be going through difficult situations.
The "Love is Louder” campaign was started by actress Brittney Low in September 2010, and Lovato is joining the effort to help others deal with the pressure she felt before having the emotional breakdown that led her to rehab.
