On December 9, 2012 the world mourned the loss of Jenni Rivera, one of the most influential Mexican American singers who died in a plane crash just hours after she had performed a concert in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The following months since her death family, friends, and fans have had the trying task of enduring grief all the while remembering her bubbly spirit through countless of mediums she left behind. On the anniversary of her death we reflect on all that she left for us, and remember her legacy that will continue to live on.

In a tragic turn of events on Friday night, legendary salsa star Eddie Perez has passed away.
He was a co-founded of the famed Puerto Rican salsa band, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico. The band had recently celebrated 50 years of playing music and are largery considered Puerto Rico's most successful musical group.

Demi Lovato's biological father, Patrick Lovato, has passed away. Few details are known at this time, but her older sister Dallas Lovato tweeted the message "Rest in peace daddy I love you.." The singer herself has yet to post anything or release a statement, and the cause of his death is yet unknown, reports Perez Hilton.
The 20-year-old singer's father separated from the family when Lovato was four, and Lovato has embraced Eddie De La Garza, her stepfather, as "Dad." In 2011, Lovato released her album Unbroken, with the track "For the Love of a Daughter." The song chronicles her difficult relationship with her father.
Most recently, she learned of an older half-sister she didn't know she had. She revealed the news on the Dana & Jeffrey in the Morning show.
“I have an older sister that I've never known my whole life. She's in her 30s. She's my half-sister,” she shared, “I talked to her for the very first time in my life around when I turned 20.”

Bernadette Hernandez, mother to Bruno Mars, passed away Saturday due to a brain aneurysm, according to the Associated Press. She was only 55.
Bernadette, a hula dancer and singer from the Philippines, inspired Bruno's love of music. A publicist for Mars' label, Atlantic Records, told the Associated Press that Hernandez passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii at Queens Medical Center.
