Costa Rican President Óscar Arias Has Swine Flu

President Óscar Arias of Costa Rica recently confirmed that he has been diagnosed with the Swine Flu. The Noble Peace Prize winner said in a statement that he is being quarantined at his home and receiving treatments of the anti-flu medicine oseltamivir.

"The pandemic makes no distinctions," Arias pointed out, "I am one more case in this country and I am being submitted to the recommendations that health authorities have established for the entire population."

In the second Happy Planet Index (HPI)—the original index done in 2006—the New Economics Foundation took a look at 143 countries that are home to 99 percent of the world's population. Happiness was measured by an equation that takes into account life expectancy, people's overall satisfaction and their environmental impact.
