Republicans have renewed the call to revise the 14th amendment of the constitution, which guarantees citizenship to anyone born in the United States.

A few months ago, we told you about a U.S. rep from San Diego who supported a ban that would keep natural-born U.S. children from receiving citizenship if their parents were undocumented. We figured this idea wouldn't, or couldn't, go very far considering the fact that the fourteenth amendment of the constitution protects that basic right for all citizens born on U.S. soil, but it looks like the push is gaining momentum in some political circles.

Republican lawmakers recently introduced a bill that would take US citizenship away from babies born in the United States to undocumented immigrants. The concept of birthright citizenship is a fundamental tenet of the constitution of this country. But according to Rep. Gary Miller (R-Brea, CA), "You have many people coming to this country illegally. They come to this country and have babies. The children are citizens," Miller told the Whittier Daily News.

Dominican lawmakers voted recently to approve a constitutional amendment that would effectively end legal abortion in the country. Assembly members approved the new Executive Branch article, which states that, “The right to the life is inviolable from conception until death.”
