One of CNN’s Top 10 Heroes for 2011 is Latina. Mexican psychologist Elena Durón Miranda was recently selected for her work with poverty-stricken children in Argentina. The CNN Hero initiative spotlights those striving to spur change in the world. A decade ago, Durón Miranda traveled to Argentina to research communities wrought with poverty. What she found were children collecting food and various items from a trash dump.

CNN anchor and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien has joined Latina magazine as a contributing editor with a quarterly magazine column highlighting the social and cultural issues affecting Latinos. Her new column, Beyond the Numbers, debuts in the June-July 2011 issue with a column exploring education in the United States. In the column she profiles Maria Castro, a brilliant young Latina student who is smart, talented and ambitious but still finds the educational system is failing her.

This morning, fired CNN host, Rick Sanchez visited ABC’s Good Morning America to issue a sincere apology for anti-semitic comments he made last week about Daily Show host John Stewart, CNN and Jewish people in the media industry. But it was the comment he made following his heartfelt apology that led to some tension between the Cuban-born Sanchez and GMA reporter, George Stephanopoulous.

Rick Sanchez was unceremoniously fired from CNN over the weekend for inflammatory comments he made about both The Daily Show host Jon Stewart, and media ownership.
During a recent appearance on the SiriusXM radio, Stand Up! With Pete Dominick, Sanchez went on a rant in which he called Jon Stewart a "bigot" and made claims about Jews controlling the media.

Popular Miami Priest Alberto Cutié was caught in a compromising position when racy photos of the Father cavorting with a lady love on the beach were printed in TV Notas yesterday.
Father Cutié had a popular radio show in which he dispensed love and relationship advice but since the scandal hit, his show has been temporarily suspended and he's lost his position as pastor for a South Beach area church. Father Cutié has since apologized for his actions.
