Cheech Marin has just been confirmed to play the patriarch of a close-knit Mexican American family for a new sitcom. Deadline is reporting that the Mexican American funny man has signed on as father-in-law to Rob Schneider’s character in the new CBS comedy. The project, which is still untitled, is co-written by Schneider and based on the actor’s real life.

People reports the Cheech & Chong actor proposed to Rubin, a classical pianist, during dinner at the elegant L.A. restaurant Giorgio Baldi. “The couple are thrilled and looking forward to sharing their special day with close friends and family," says his rep. The Island will be a little more Latino-riffic on the upcoming season of Lost. According to Entertainment Weekly, Michelle Rodriguez and Cheech Marin are both returning for the second episode, most likely in Jorge Garcia's character Hurley's flashbacks.
