Pulitzer Prize-winning author Junot Díaz likes to take his sweet time. In fact, it could be another ten years before we read another thing from him. (The good news is that he’s already started working on it—a fantasy-type novel for young readers). Díaz, a proud Dominican American, took exactly 11 years to finish his modern fiction masterpiece, 2007’s The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

That is most definitely true, especially in this crapulent economy. But thankfully, there is such a thing as free Junot! Diaz, that is. The Pulitzer Prize-winning hottie (well, if nerds are your thing as they are mine) is doing a reading on Monday Nov. 24, 7:30 p.m., at Solas Bar in NYC. So put down that new Bolaño book, which will likely take you three lifetimes to finish, and join the 39-year-old Dominican author as he thrills us with passages from his critically acclaimed, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.
